It’s that time of year again when the temperatures begin to dip and snow and ice begin to pelt the upper elevations of the Smoky Mountains. We have already seen road closures this week due to the conditions, and we can expect that to continue throughout the next several months. Though it is a beautiful time to visit the park, it is important to remember to be safe when we travel these roads. Check the forecast for weather conditions while you are out. It is also important to think about road conditions where you are staying around the national park. If your vehicle has trouble making it up inclines like Ski Mountain in normal conditions, do not reserve a cabin in higher elevations when rough weather threatens.
