Episode 12 – Gatlinburg Space Needle, Lousy Mountain Views, and the Jump Off Hike

In this episode, we visit quite literally one of the largest (certainly tallest) landmarks around the Smokies, the Gatlinburg Space Needle.  At 407 feet, this landmark towers above everything except the mountains themselves.  It has been delighting guests since 1969 and appears poised to go another 40 years.  The prices are $8.50 for adults and $4.00 for children 5-12.  Great 360 degree views await you at the top.  Visit their website for more details HERE.

The Jump Off hike in the Smokies is one of the best around.  Its a moderate 6.5 mile hike starting from scenic Newfound Gap.  You will have wonderful views most of the way to say nothing about the amazing views you get when you arrive.  Find more information about this wonderful hike HERE.

Mountain views are as unpredictable as the weather.  That’s what John wrote in to let us know, and gave us tips to beat the bad views.  Thanks again John!  Don’t like the weather?  Wait a while!  It changes fast.
